We have been busy!

Let's see here, we have been busy over the last week and a half. Last Monday Ricky's BFF Miles came into town and we did the whole tourist thing with him. We took him down to Galveston since he had never been... boy was he impressed! lol Actually we went down to see the Titanic exhibit at Moody Gardens. They have lots of the recovered artifacts on display and a story to go along with it. They recovered over 5500 items but do not have them all there to see. They didn't allow camera's so I only have a pic of Ricky and Kendall walking in. The thing I found to be cool was the recreation of the rooms for the 1st class and 3rd class. It is surreal to walk through there and to know that stuff is actually from the Titanic. For some reason the Titanic seems like a story until you see real items from the ship.

We also went to game 3 for the Houston Astro's against Cincinnati. This had to be the best baseball game experience ever since it was indoors!! Can we say air conditioning!?!? They have a big train that moves when they score that Kendall got a huge kick out of... too bad we only got to see it start up once! Another cool thing was getting to see Ken Griffey Jr. play his last game with Cincinnati... the next morning he was traded.

More great news to report: My sister from another mother Yalonda and her husband Brandon had their first son Bralyn Scott Klein on Wednesday. I am so happy for them. I have known Yalonda for the better part of my life and it is hard to believe that we have children that will be in the same grade together.

And last but not least our little Kara Beara is 11 weeks old. She has been sleeping 10-12 hours at night and is drinking between 4-6oz. Kendall cannot wait for her to get big so they can play babies together!

The Greatest Show on Earth

Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus truly is the greatest show on earth! We took the girls to the circus today to celebrate my birthday this past week. No better way to celebrate not wanting to get older than to do something a child enjoys!

I have not been to the circus since I was very little and sadly all I can remember is being consumed with persuading my parents to buy my one of those overpriced light up toys. (lol)

Today was such a different experience. The circus was at Reliant stadium where the Houston Texans play their home games. Right from the start you can feel the "experience" as you walk up with all the loud speakers blaring with voices of circus personnel. Once inside you are bombarded with souvenirs and food everywhere. The music playing somehow makes you want to buy something, and that we did. Kendall is a proud new owner of a $21.00 circus horse and her colt. Let's see if she ever plays with it after today.

We make our way to our seats and the show begins. The show was awesome to say the least. By intermission I was sure the show was over feeling I had already got my money's worth but nope there was still more. The show lasted about 2 1/2 hours.

Kendall was a really good age to enjoy the show. She stood up on the chair and could see everything but ultimately she fell asleep... the shows time fell in her nap time window.

Last Christmas I was standing in line at HEB buying a few items and happened to glance over at all the toy displays they had at the end of each register. They had all these "Big toys" for about $30.00 a piece and it looked like it was a great deal. The two that happened to catch my eye were a kitchen set and a little baby changing station set. One of the gifts I wanted to get Kendall was a kitchen set so I thought I had totally scored to get two things for less than the price of one at Toys R Us. Just getting these boxes into my car was an ordeal... this alone should have sent up a red flag.

The night before Christmas Ricky and I were sitting there realizing that all the gifts we bought for her that year had to be put together in some form or fashion. We basically flipped a coin and divided up the work. I started on the baby changing station while he put together her horse. A few hours later and seriously falling asleep and feeling all sorts of neck and back cramps from hunching over I decided I would go to bed and finish the project in the morning before having her open her gifts. On Christmas morning Ricky was in such a huge hurry to let her out to see her gifts that he didn't want me to finish putting the thing together...

Well fast forward a good 7 months and that and the kitchen were still not finished. (I know I know, pretty terrible)

I got a wild hair to finish these projects yesterday. Let me just tell you that once you have a child you will forever be putting things together. Nothing comes as is and ready for play. They do not tell you that you need an engineering degree to put this stuff together either. I worked on putting the kitchen together for two hours last night and here are some pictures.

2 Months Old and Rockstar Dreams!

My baby is 2 months old today!! It is crazy how just two months ago I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have two children and now I couldn't imagine what it would be like to not have two children. Somehow we just seem to adjust to life as it happens to us. I used to complain about never having enough time when I only had Kendall to take care of. To be really honest I could totally add a third child into the mix. It isn't in our plan but now that I have a second, I wouldn't be scared to add a third. (Ricky, if you are reading this... don't freak out! It is just a statement. HA HA)

I just wanted to share this video of Kendall that I took today. One of mine and Ricky's new favorite shows is Family Jewels with Gene Simmons. I guess Kendall likes it also! This made me laugh so hard... I didn't teach her to say this at all.

Personalities and Birthdays

Ever since I had Kendall I keep hearing mom's talking about their baby's developing personality. I always found this to be silly because I never saw a distinct personality in Kendall. Heck, with Kendall there was no pattern to anything. Now that I have another baby and the whole process isn't new to me, I am noticing things I didn't notice with Kendall... it is like watching a movie a second time and seeing things you didn't catch the first time. I have to admit it is a much more enjoyable experience the second time around. Do not get me wrong, I was super stoked to be a mama the first time and Kendall was and is my little miracle but being a mommy a second time comes with a certain ease. So I guess what I am trying to say is that I am already seeing some of Kara's personality shine through!! I can already tell that she is going to be a little comedian... there is just something about this smirk she gives me.

Just a little note to say that tomorrow is my 27th birthday. I am not looking for anything here but would just like to say that I do not like birthdays anymore. Am I already one of those women? You know the ones who get stuck on their 39th birthday for ten years or refuse to tell you their age. I would be happy if I was 25 for 20 more years. I am not sure if having children makes me just not interested in my birthday anymore but that is about the time I no longer looked forward to them. So tomorrow I will not have a day that is all about me but more likely be having a cake with candles just so my two year old can blow them out... that is how I role these days.

Fast foward 10 months!

Well fast forward about ten months. Our newest bundle of joy Kara Grace Hack is here!! Born May 15th at 2:14p.m. in a very fast and furious manner. Ricky, Kendall and I couldn't be happier to have her here in our lives.

We are all settled in here in the Houston area (Katy to be exact.) Although we are missing our friends and family like crazy. We have done a lot of soul searching and are open to re-locating back to the DFW area if the opportunity arises.

In the meantime we are just living and loving our two little girls. Kendall is 2 1/2 this month on the 20th. She is the best big sister ever!! It is so cute to see her become so nurturing after watching me take care of Kara. At any given time I have 10 baby dolls in my living room occupying all of Kara's things. I wish I could capture just how cute it is, but hopefully I can retain it for memories sake.

Kara is 8 weeks old today. OMG! Where does time go? She is already cooing and smiling back at you. I must have been stuck in a "New mommy fog" with Kendall because I do not remember her first coo's. Kara is such a great baby and we are truly blessed.
